Wecome Back! Thanks to everyone who has made last summer so fun!  We had good swell, great weather, and awesome students keeping our program strong.  We have improved our program and added some new faces to the STS team.

Maholo to everyone who came down to the International surfing day! Before the lightening, we managed to pick up 20 bags of trash, including lots of gross cigarettes, an oil canister, some animal bones, a boogie boarder fin and a sock! A big thank you to the Surfrider Foundation, Surfing Magazine, Frankiessurf.com, Dragon, Aloha Ric, the WaterBird Project, and all who participated! Check our calendar for the next free clinic.

STS PHILOSOPHY

Nowadays, it seems like everyone wants to be a surfer, but only a select few possess the knowledge and skills to truthfully call themselves one. Why is it that some people are born into surfing and others aren't? Believe it or not, not all surfers grew up on the beach in California, or had an older brother that pushed them into their first waves. Some of the most talented and hardest working surfers in the world come from a little slice of heaven we like to call, The Jersey Shore.

While surfing may not be for everyone, at SummerTimeSurf we strongly believe that

Everyone Deserves the Opportunity to Experience the
Joy of Surfing
But you already knew that, and that's why you are in the RIGHT PLACE!
Our co-ed team of instructors are completely committed to the surfing lifestyle. Our instructors have followed their surfing dreams all over the world and bring their vast knowledge and expertise to you. Our counselors come here from both the East and West Coasts, as well as from Hawaii and Australia. We have assembled a team of counselors that are not only talented surfers, but also enjoy teaching and "passing the stoke" of surfing. We believe in the future of East Coast surfing and want to be as much a part of that future as we possibly can.

CORE VALUES

1. To Promote Healthy Living Through the Surf Lifestyle

2. To Inspire the Next Generation of East Coast Surfers through
Positive Role Models

3. To Provide a Well-Rounded Program that Effectively Teaches the Art of Surfing

4. To Change the Surfer Stereotypes and Focus On The
Athleticism and Unique Skills of Surfers.

5. To Practice Environmental Responsibility and Community Service

Our Take On Surfing

The Ocean is the World’s Greatest Playground. The Ancient Polynesians understood this and dubbedsurfing, "The Sport of Kings.” At STS we define surfing as a sport, an art, AND a lifestyle. The ancient Hawaiians and Polynesians have celebrated surfing in their culture for thousands of years and still do to this day. It is through their values and example that we modern surfers have found inspiration. The ancient Hawaiians taught that to become a Kahuna (expert) surfer, one must master many aspects of ocean life. SummerTimeSurf Camp teaches its students the steps they must take to become a Kahuna themselves. With surfing in mind as the ultimate goal of a waterman, SummerTimeSurf will show you how to reach your full potential and “maximize your surf time.” True surfers feel a deep connection with the ocean and have a great respect for our Mother. Getting in rhythm with nature through surfing can be the most rewarding thing you'll ever do. Because the Ocean is so alive; moving with the tides, the waves, the currents, and the sea life, we must be able to adapt our approach to its many moods. True watermen understand that there are many ways to interact with the ocean and that we can get out as much as we are willing to put in. Surfers must be able to recognize and identify a number of varying factors on an ever-changing playing field. While this takes years to master, with our instruction, we can help you to put yourself in harmony with the ocean. Once you begin to feel what it is like to be in true rhythm with a wave, a surf spot, or the ocean as a whole, you have found what it means to truly be stoked. The pursuit of this stoke creates a lifestyle. Surfing is one of the few endeavors that one can pursue into old age. We must respect our elders and their contributions to the surfing environment today. We are inspired by their lifelong pursuit of wave riding, and it is our duty to pass on the knowledge and traditions to the next generation of surfers. We honor the traditions and rules in place and look for ways to improve the surfing community and maintain a healthy environment for the future.
